In this series of Q&As, we get to know our Open Banking Expo Awards judges.
Conrad Ford, Allica Bank’s chief product strategy officer, who is judging the Awards for the first time this year, reveals what he found most encouraging about this year’s entries.
1. What do you enjoy most about being part of the Open Banking Expo Awards judging panel?
Being a judge is a great way to see first hand all the innovation going on in our industry, and a timely reminder that fintech is just getting started, despite the headwinds of the past couple of years.
And judging day is fun – lots of passionate but friendly debate with us all in the room!
2. What is most exciting you about this year’s entries?
Something that struck me is that there were some really impressive initiatives from the traditional incumbents – this is vital for our industry, as it will drive mass market adoption of technologies such as Open Banking.
3. Why is it so important to recognise the achievements of companies and individuals within Open Banking, Open Finance and payments?
Having been a fintech founder myself, I know only too well that there can be bruising moments in a startup’s journey.
So it’s great to give an opportunity to reflect on – and celebrate – the successes too.
