Luxembourg-based bank Spuerkeess has unveiled a new functionality for its 320,000 S-Net clients which allows them to view their ‘Up Meal Vouchers’ account via e-banking, as a result of an integration with Open Finance provider LUXHUB.

Spuerkeess has previously worked with LUXHUB on the launch of an account aggregation functionality within its e-banking offering, S-Net, which currently covers 26 banks across Luxembourg, Belgium, France and Germany, as well as European neobanks.

S-Net is now used by clients as a “centralised hub” for all their bank accounts.

Spuerkeess’ latest collaboration with meal voucher service provider and benefits management business Up Luxembourg is part of the bank’s “beyond banking” vision which will see it widen its offering to other sectors.

Spuerkees, which is solely owned by the Luxembourg state, was established to promote savings, facilitate access to housing, and support the development of the national economy.

“This new innovation is an additional step forward in our mission to offer financial services that go above our clients’ usual expectations,” said Alain Scholtes, deputy head of innovation office at Spuerkeess.

Alicia Brun, country manager at Up Luxembourg, said: “Thanks to this partnership with Spuerkeess, Up Luxembourg continues to innovate to enhance user experience. Now, Spuerkeess clients can easily check their Up Luxembourg meal vouchers balance through the S-Net e-banking solution and S-Net Mobile, and can access detailed historical transactions data.

“To do so, they simply need to connect to S-Net, click on ‘Add account’, where they will add their Up credentials. As with bank account aggregation, this service is entirely free of charge.”

LUXHUB was founded by four major banks in Luxembourg – Spuerkeess, BGL BNP Paribas, POST Luxembourg and Banque Raiffeisen – in the wake of PSD2.

The Open Finance fintech offers compliance services focused on PSD2, FIDA and Verification of Payee, as well as account aggregation and payment initiation solutions.

Claude Meurisse, chief executive officer of LUXHUB, said: “With the integration of the Up Luxembourg meal vouchers balance in its e-banking, Spuerkeess provides a complete offer to its clients, going in the direction of Open Finance.

“LUXHUB is happy to take part, once again, in this innovation made in Luxembourg.”
