UK-based Open Banking payments provider Atoa Payments has expanded into the legal and professional services with the addition of Family Law Cafe, a legal services platform specialising in divorce, finances and child custody, as a customer.
Family Law Cafe begun using Open Banking payment solution, Atoa, to send payment links to all clients via SMS, alongside credit card and bank transfer options, as part of efforts to “streamline” its payment process.
According to a press statement, 80% of Family Law Cafe’s clients choose to pay with Atoa over the other payment solutions offered.
Previously, Family Law Cafe relied exclusively on traditional payment services, such as credit and debit cards and manual bank transfers.

Since adopting Open Banking payments, Family Law Cafe has “significantly reduced” time spent chasing payments.
In addition, Atoa’s payment management system provides full visibility into all pending and completed payments.
Joanna Toch, founder of Family Law Cafe said: “It’s paramount to us that we deal with our clients sensitively and consider their situation – even in our administration processes.
“We want to help our customers as soon as possible, and with Atoa we’re able to process payments quicker than ever and start the work that matters. We have been very impressed by the ease and simplicity of working with Atoa. They make fee collection simple.”
Sid Narayanan, co-founder and chief executive officer of Atoa added: “Family Law Cafe is a great example of a business that understands the value in a seamless customer experience, and we’re delighted to see how Atoa is aiding that mission.
“By offering a direct, instant, and secure payment method, we’re enabling law firms to focus on providing expert legal support, without the added burden of outdated and inefficient payment processes.”
Atoa recently begun working with small business platform Xero to help small businesses get paid more quickly and to pay less in fees. Atoa’s new integration with Xero will enable customers to attach Atoa as the payments provider.
