Pizza brand Papa Johns has chosen European Pay by Bank network TrueLayer to rollout Pay by Bank as a payment method for its UK customers, enabling them to pay directly from their bank accounts.
The introduction of Pay by Bank, using TrueLayer’s Open Banking technology, removes the need for Papa Johns’ customers to enter card details at checkout.
The Open Banking payment method also reduces fraud risk, by authenticating transactions in real time, often using biometrics verification through users’ banking apps.

Merchants benefit from reduced transaction costs and quicker fund settlement.
“We’re always looking for ways to enhance our customers’ experience, from better ingredients to better technology,” said Eamon Lindsell, senior product manager for digital technology at Papa Johns.
“By integrating TrueLayer’s Pay by Bank solution, we’re improving our customers’ digital experience and increasing customer retention, all while reducing fraud, eliminating chargebacks and lowering our cost of payments by more than 40%.”
Papa Johns’ Pay by Bank option is now available for customers across the US and has already processed thousands of orders.
Emlyn Miftari, commercial lead at TrueLayer, said: “We’re excited to support Papa Johns in changing how customers pay. Payments in ecommerce, and food and beverage are undergoing a revolutionary shift, and innovative merchants like Papa Johns are driving this charge.
“With Pay by Bank, Papa Johns customers can enjoy a frictionless, secure, and more cost-effective payment option that aligns with modern consumer expectations.”
