Open Banking payments potential in Europe
Token CEO Todd Clyde and new chief product officer Charles Damen join Open Banking Expo’s Ellie Duncan to discuss the widespread adoption of Open Banking-enabled payments in Europe, as well as the headwinds and tailwinds facing the region, such as fragmentation. Chief Executive Officer Token.ioTodd Clyde is the CEO of Token and an established operator of Silicon Valley software companies. He has an over twenty-year track record of bringing groundbreaking technologies to market, including e-learning, internet banking, mobile banking and now open API banking. Token is Todd’s fifth technology start-up, and he has navigated his previous four to successful exits, including one $2B exit. Todd joined Token in 2016 to modernise payments and drive a shift from traditional payment methods to account-to-account payments.

Prior to joining Token, Charles was the SVP Product Strategy at Worldpay, responsible for Real Time Payments and Open Banking. He brings more than 20 years of payments, mobile and internet experience to his role. Prior to Worldpay Charles founded and led the global cross border payments division at Thunes enabling real time payments to and from emerging markets. Before Thunes, Charles led the payments and fraud team at global ecommerce merchant Bumble and was a board member at the Merchant Risk Council. Prior to Badoo he was head of the Mobile Payments line of business at Syniverse and co-founded the mobile messaging business Mobile365 which was sold to SAP. Charles holds a dual Bachelor Degree in European Business from the International School of Economics Rotterdam (ISER) in the Netherlands and from Groupe Ecole Supérieure de Commerce (ESC) Bordeaux in France.
