Open Banking Expo can reveal that Open Banking payments provider Yaspa has joined American Express as a partner of its Women in Open Banking initiative for 2025.
The initiative launched in October 2022 in partnership with American Express and, since then, has established a mentoring scheme and hosted a series of meetups for members.
The aim of the initiative is to supercharge careers, by building a more diverse pool of role models and leaders, making Open Banking the industry of choice for future female leaders.
Membership of Women in Open Banking has grown to 748 globally, with 456 members based in the UK.
Kate Marsden, chief marketing officer at Yaspa, said: “The Yaspa team have been enthusiastic members of the Women in Open Banking (WiOB) initiative from its beginning, and we’re delighted to be supporting it over 2025.
“We have always been proud of the gender balance amongst our employees, and as we grow, we are very conscious of wanting to maintain our broad diversity and lovely culture.”
She added: “I hope that our involvement with WiOB will help us do so over the year to come, whether as recruiters, mentors, mentees, or role models. Thank you for the opportunity to continue to learn, and give back!”
Amie Kadhim, head of commercial at Yaspa, won the Women in Open Banking Rising Star Award at the Open Banking Expo Awards 2023.
“We are thrilled that Yaspa has come onboard as a partner of our Women in Open Banking initiative for next year to help the initiative grow and thrive,” said Kelly Stanley, co-founder of Open Banking Expo.
“Kate and the team at Yaspa have been hugely supportive of Women in Open Banking from its earliest days, so it is great to formalise this as the initiative moves into its third year.
“We will continue to bring our Women in Open Banking members together again in 2025, through mentoring, meetups and our WhatsApp group.”
At the most recent Women in Open Banking Meetup on 16 October in London, members heard from Amelia Martinez, director of ecosystem at Innovate Finance, Nadia Strone, vice president human resources at Equifax, Alina Timofeeva, founder and chief executive officer of Unique.Bold.You and Tatiana Okhotina, chief financial officer at Token.io about leadership.
During the panel discussion, ‘The things I’ve learned on the way to becoming a leader’, they revealed what leadership means to them, what it had taken each of them to become a leader, and the importance of allyship.
